Our Story

In 2009, four families in Lake Stevens, WA, began a journey to foster cultural understanding and preserve their heritage. Motivated by a desire for their children to embrace their roots, the initiative quickly grew, evolving into a vibrant community within a few short years. This collective effort laid the foundation for "Herencias," an organization dedicated to sharing Mexican folklorico dances and music in the Pacific Northwest. Since its establishment, Herencias has steadfastly committed itself to nurturing and sharing the vibrant dances and music that define Mexican culture, leaving a lasting impact on the region.

Our Purpose

At Herencias, our goal is simple yet profound: we strive to preserve and pass down the rich traditions of Mexican culture and history using the dynamic mediums of music and dance. We are committed to sharing not only the captivating movements and rhythms but also the deep knowledge embedded in these art forms with the wider public.

A central aspect of our mission is to help people understand that folklorico is more than just a performance—it's a complex and meaningful art form that weaves together history, culture, and emotion.

Going beyond the stage, we seek to create a cultural connection that spans across ages and backgrounds. Through this connection, Herencias Mexicanas acts as a cultural bridge, ensuring that the vibrant legacy of Mexican heritage resonates and enriches lives for generations to come.
